Things you want to know when planning your wedding!

These guidelines seek to fulfill the teachings of the Universal Church, the requirements of our Diocese and parish, and your needs concerning your marriage.

Weddings are normally celebrated in the parish where you are registered and actively involved. If you are not a member of St. Mark's; you must consult with your own pastor before we can discuss any arrangements with you. Your pastor is the proper person to assess your needs and desires and will direct you on how to proceed.


Please allow a minimum of 6 full months to prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage. During this time you will complete the following:

1) Meet with our pastor or senior priest

2) Complete the necessary pre-marriage paperwork. Do not set a wedding date until all the paperwork is complete!

3) Attend Mass every Sunday and on Holy days of obligation

4) Complete a pre-marriage FOCUS inventory & meet with our guidance team to review the results.

5) Participate in one of the following programs: Transformed in Love- marriage mentor (preferred) or Engaged Encounter (by permission only)

6) Meet with a Natural Family Planning couple. This will take place during your Marriage Mentor Team gatherings.

7) Meet with our parish Director of Liturgy & Music

Fees and Agreements

Marriage preparation fee: $500

Church fees:

  • Parishioner- No facility fee but $250 cleaning deposit (if there is no damage repair or clean up necessary after your wedding, the check will be returned to you)
  • Non-parishioner- $750 facility use +$250 cleaning deposit

Musicians: on average $200/musician


Suggested honorariums:

  • Priest: $200
  • Deacon: $150
  • Altar Servers $20/each (usually 3)


Liturgy and Music:

  • Only sacred and/or appropriate style music may be used. The use of recorded music is not permitted. St. Mark's can provide vocalists and instrumentalist for your ceremony.
  • Outside musicians are allowed only with special permission.
