Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Are you ready for Christmas? It’s a question we are often asked. How can we as Catholics actually prepare ourselves best for Christmas? How can we keep the season of holiness in our hearts as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ?
First, I invite you to spend extra time praying with scripture this Advent by reading and reflecting on the Infancy Narratives (Matthew 1:18-chapter 2 and Luke 1:5-chapter 2).
Second, I encourage each of us to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation, which brings us closer to Christ, who is grace and peace. St. Mark’s will offer additional confession times throughout the Advent Season on Tuesdays, December 4th, 11th and 18th following the 8:00am Mass and at 5:00pm. Our communal reconciliation service for all of the Boise area parishes will at St. Mark’s, on December 19th at 7pm.
Finally, let us share the hope of the Nativity of Our Lord with friends and family, by inviting them to celebrate Midnight Mass with us. It is in this way; through prayer, Sacraments and intentional discipleship, that we can truly be ready for Christmas.
In a special way I pray that our parish will share the love and mercy of God with those around us, our families, and individually in our communities.
May the Peace of Christ be with you this Christmas season, and throughout the year,
