Food Bank

St. Mark’s Food Bank

The food bank’s mission is to gather, manage and distribute resources to families or idividuals in a crisis situation.  Donation of food and monetary donations from parishioners to the St. Jude Fund are used to support this ministry.  Volunteers staff the center.

The St. Mark’s food bank volunteers assisted 1,930 individuals with food and other essential items during April. This total reflects a decrease of a couple of hundred from April 2011

This week the food bank is in need of the following:

  •  Cereal

  • Jam

Ever wonder what goes into the bags given out at the food bank?  Here is a list:

  •  2 cans each of vegetables, fruit, tuna, pork & beans, soup
  •  1 can of spaghetti sauce
  •  1 package of spaghetti
  • 2 boxes of macaroni and cheese
  • 1 box of cereal
  • 1 jar each of peanut butter and jelly

As well as milk, eggs, meat, and bread.

Food Storage Shed

We are happy to announce the addition of a food storage shed! This shed will provide much-needed space and will enable us to load and unload food more efficiently. The construction of the storage unit was made possible by a private donation.

All costs associated are covered by this donation – no money donated to the St. Jude Fund, or other donations for food were used for this project.
