Evangelium, Greek for Gospel, which means ‘good news'
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Marks,
Good news to share with all of you! Firstly, for the third year in a row, our parish school was voted the Best Private Elementary School by the Idaho Business Review! We continue to be proud of our school’s “tradition of academic excellence rooted in faith” as we celebrate over 50 years of Catholic education in the Treasure Valley. Congratulations to Mrs. Gordon and the faculty and staff on a job well done. Thank you to the entire parish for your continued support through lived faith, friendship, and support of our young disciples.
Per our strategic planning process for the parish and school, we conducted a Parish Vitality Survey, which garnered the collective voice of over 700 community members. While we continue to review the results and information provided, the need to update our facilities emerged as a consistent theme.
Secondly, as a result, the Parish Council unanimously authorized a facilities master planning project for the parish and school, which will enhance and support their missions. To facilitate the process, St. Mark’s hired Erstad Architects to guide the planning process through conceptual design.
During the preliminary programming phase, a St. Mark’s family challenged us to get the process moving. They would like to see some of the previously identified classroom improvements, designed to enrich and update our young disciples’ learning environment, happen now. The preliminary budget for these updates is $1.1 million dollars. The family, who wishes to remain anonymous, has offered to donate $500,000 if parents, grandparents, alumni and friends of the school will help raise the rest.
The bulk of the classroom improvements will be done over the summer and will include, but are not limited to:
- Replacing original, single pane glass with high efficiency glass to increase the natural light from the current level up to 300%
- Adding fire sprinklers to the elementary school wing classrooms
- Updating and remodeling the original bathrooms
- Updating the current fluorescent lighting to high efficient LED lights in the classrooms and corridor
- Replacing/adding carpet to designated areas
- Relocating middle school lockers to the outside of the classrooms
- Paint to brighten the environment
The opportunity to make an immediate impact at the school is an exciting opportunity! We invite you to help us make this project a reality. Please contact Amy-Wong Little, St. Mark’s Development Director, at 208-375-6651 or firstname.lastname@example.org, for ways you can support us on this journey.
